Align the compass such that it is parallel to the N-S field of the earth. Connect the power supply to the compass apparatus. When the current passes through the conducting frame, the compass needle aligns in the direction of the magnetic field. The voltage source can be easily changed, so that we can demonstrate that the deflection increases with increasing voltage and current.
